Harper and singer Steph West works as a performer, teacher and workshop leader. Whilst studying early music at the University of Birmingham Steph fell in love with the clarsach/folk harp.
Steph’s main trad styles are English and Irish; she has worked as a performer and teacher with artists and organisations in both fields, including EFDSS, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann, Irish flute/whistle virtuoso Jacquelyn Hynes, Shooting Roots youth folk arts, Edinburgh International Harp Festival and Guildhall’s CYM.
Steph also plays with the British Paraorchestra, bal band Midnight Patisserie, and her singer-songwriter duo with drummer Paul Radmeyer.
Matthew Coatsworth has combined classical and folk music throughout his life. After reading music at Oxford University, he spent time composing and arranging music for children and for theatre, alongside playing chamber music and in orchestras.
A ten-year stint in Boldwood included a number of recordings and highly acclaimed performances. Three Boldwood Dancing Master books were researched and compiled, and are now considered essential sources for 18th century dance tunes. Matthew appeared in two series of BBC’s Poldark and recorded an album of related music with the Warleggan Village Band. He will be appearing in a new Netflix series in 2020.
As well as First Folio, Matthew currently plays in the Warleggan Village Band.
